1) Spissky Castle
Spišsky Castle is a magnificent historical and architectural heritage of Slovakia, its true pride and symbol. In one of the picturesque Slovak cities – the city of Spiš – you can see a grandiose castle-fortress, or rather a whole castle, which was built at the end of the 12th – beginning of the 13th centuries. Spišsky Castle is the largest medieval castle not only in Slovakia, but also in all of Central Europe . Next to this defensive medieval outpost is the Žehra Church, built in the 13th century, and the Spišska Kapitula – the medieval residence of the Slovak bishops. All three buildings together create a magnificent architectural ensemble, seeing which you can be transported back to the distant Middle Ages for a while. Spišsky Castle is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
2) The Queen of Slovak Caves
As many people probably already know, Slovakia is a country with many not only architectural, but also natural attractions . One of the main natural wonders of Slovakia are caves, of which there are many both in quantity and in variety. The most popular among the Slovak caves is the Dobsinska Ice Cave , which is often called the queen of all Slovak caves. The Dobsinska Cave is a unique natural phenomenon, which is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is located on the territory of the Slovak Paradise National Park. Almost the whole year the walls of the Dobsinska Cave are covered with ice. And outwardly, this glacial miracle creates a fabulous atmosphere, like in the palace of the Snow Queen from the world-famous fairy tale by G.K. Andersen. You can visit the Dobsinska Cave from mid-May to early October.
3) Wines of Slovakia
Winemaking in this country began a very, very long time ago and has centuries-old history and traditions. Slovak wines are very popular all over the world. Incidentally, Slovakia recently managed to defend the right, together with Hungary, to call their wines Tokaj. Therefore, you should know that the famous exquisite Tokaj wines can be found not only in Hungary, but also in its neighboring country – Slovakia.
4) The most famous Slovak in the world
Well, probably everyone knows about it! The legendary Andy Warhol is a Man with a capital letter, born into a family of immigrants from Slovakia, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and, of course, the father of the pop art movement!

In the music industry, Slovakia is famous largely thanks to such a world-class opera celebrity as Peter Dvorsky . Even the legendary Luciano Pavarotti himself called Peter Dvorsky his successor!
6) Sport and Slovakia
The sporting side of Slovakia’s popularity is inextricably linked with the world-famous player of the Slovakian national team and the Los Angeles Kings National Hockey League club – Zygmunt Palfi. He is rightfully considered the national pride of Slovakia, who during his sports career became a world champion and won a silver prize in the world hockey championship as part of his national team. Zygmunt Palfi has repeatedly been awarded the title of one of the best players in the Slovakian National Hockey League. Three times Zygmunt Palfi took part in the games called “All Stars”.
